2019 Annual Federal Tax Refresher Course (AFTR)

Successful completion of the 2019 Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) Course counts toward the voluntary annual requirement for obtaining an IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) Record of Completion for the 2019 filing season.

**The course includes an overview of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provisions.**

To be eligible for an AFSP Record of Completion, participants must pass the Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) Course and complete all other required continuing education by midnight, December 31, 2018.

Course Description

Successful completion of the 2019 Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) Course counts toward the voluntary annual requirement for obtaining an IRS Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) Record of Completion for the 2019 filing season. The Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) Course is divided into three domains (view complete course outline):

  • New Tax Laws/Recent Updates  *Tax Cuts and Jobs Act*
  • General Review
  • Ethics, Practices, and Procedures. 

This course includes online and printable Study Guides for each domain section and an online AFTR Comprehension Test.  To pass the course, you must score 70% or better on the AFTR Comprehension Test. Review the online study guides and take the test as many times needed to pass. Six hours of AFTR Course and Test credits are reported to the IRS upon successful completion of this course.

To be eligible for an AFSP Record of Completion, participants must pass the Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) Course and complete all other required continuing education by midnight, December 31, 2018.
