This bundle contains all new courses developed since last year’s AFSP release. It provides the topics and credit-hours needed for a non-exempt tax preparer to meet the 18-hour requirement to earn the IRS AFSP - Record of Completion for the 2024 filing season.

The courses are delivered through a mix of webinars and self-studies. Take a short test for each topic to earn your continuing education credits.

To be eligible for an AFSP Record of Completion, participants must complete all required continuing education by midnight (your local time), December 31, 2023.

Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) Information

The IRS’s Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP) is a voluntary program designed to recognize the efforts of non-credentialed tax return preparers who increase their knowledge through continuing education (CE).

To earn an AFSP Record of Completion for the 2024 filing season, preparers must:

  • Complete an Annual Federal Tax Refresher (AFTR) course by December 31, 2023 (unless exempt – see the table below). 
  • Earn specified continuing education (CE) credits by December 31, 2023 – see the table below.
  • Obtain or renew a PTIN for the 2023 filing season after the PTIN renewal season begins in October 2023.
  • Consent to adhere to the obligations in Circular 230, Subpart B and section 10.51.
